Hi there! Thank you for stopping by my page. My name is Kristin Roberts and I’m an artist and illustrator based in Athens, Georgia. I began drawing around age three in my dad’s office, where he made me a desk by putting a pine board over an old paisley armchair. My main influences have always been literature, animals, and nature; and I’ve been inspired by illustrators such as Beatrix Potter and Edward Gorey throughout my life.

I graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelor’s degree in Art History and Studio Art in 2011. I then took a hiatus from drawing and painting regularly as I navigated my career pursuits in museums, libraries, and institutional diversity. However, when the pandemic hit, I was afforded some extra time at home and began creating again on a consistent basis. My first major series, “The Fables,” was inspired by the collection of tales by Aesop. I was drawn to the stories because of their animal characters, dark themes, and vivid imagery.

My work focuses on biodiversity and aesthetics in nature. I’m fascinated by recurring patterns and ornamentation created by flora and fauna, and how they translate to human interiors and decor. My main inspirations are films, short stories, and my time spent outside.

I also dabble in children’s illustration, often for the nonprofit, Leap For Literacy, whose “Share Your Story” program promotes child authors and their stories.

I grew up outside of Detroit, Michigan and I’ve lived in multiple states across the northeast. I’m now working out of Athens, Georgia where I live with my husband, Aidan, and our four cats Jimmy, Leeloo, Samson, and Selim. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art and Art History from the University of Vermont, studying under New York artist Frank Owen.
